Title:                            Wedding & Social Sales Manager

Department:                 Sales - Westin Southfield

Reports to:                   Director of Catering & Event Sales

Supervises:                  No direct reports but will work with a Sales Intern

Job Purpose: 

Responsible for hands-on managing the wedding and social experiences. We look for people with magnetic, high-energy personalities with outstanding interpersonal skills. A successful wedding & sales manager has a good balance of the competitive drive needed to achieve sales goals and the genuine empathy needed to shepherd couples through the wedding planning process. The relationship and rapport between our wedding & social sales manager and our clients is strong. Prior experience is preferred but we will train the right candidate.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Management, Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years convention sales or service, or two years in hotel catering service or sales experience.
  • Possess knowledge of hospitality, business and basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Effective listening, verbal, written and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics and prepare documentation tailored for individual customers.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of the hotel's policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.
  • Must possess communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guests.
  • Ability to drive to outside sales calls.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook. Knowledge of ISAC is preferred.


Travel required:                    Frequent weekly local travel.  Periodic domestic travel.

Hours Required:                     Forty to fifty Hours.  Evenings and weekends as needed.
