Welcome to Fall

Note from the President

Fall is finally here...And I must say, I am ready for Soft Parade brews, Lions football, and pumpkin spice everything!  If you missed our Tailgating Meeting in August at Atwater Brewery, we had great tips and trends from Katherine's Catering and Top That Event!  Beth from Katherine's even gave us the "history of tailgaiting," which started back in 1904.  It's interesting to see how big tailgating actually is now!

As all of you know, the devastation in Houston has left a hole in our nation.  In an effort to help, our Detroit NACE chapter donated $500 to the Event Professionals Relief Fund of Houston.  We hope that this will assist those in need during this tragic time.  Should you or your organization be interested in making a donation, please visit their "gofundme" page on our Facebook account.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Back in July,  I was able to visit our lovely Houston Chapter for our anual NACE Experience Conference.  They truly knocked the whole event out of the PARK, bt the Opening Reception took the cake on the biggest WOW factor of the 4 day event.  I will include a presentation of photos and hottest event trends form the evening, so hopefully you'll be able to take back an idea of two to your teams.

LINK to photos and more COMING SOON!

Trend Watch:
With Millenials (love them or hate them- they are here for good) as the primary wedding target, and often corporate target as well, it us up to us as event professionals to work with our new client base.  Millenials are trend forward, technology focused, and savvy to the industry.  They're also huge on customization.  One trend to watch out for in the coming months is the influx of personalization throughout your events.  This can come through in several ways.  Whether you are customizing a menu to incorporate a couple's favorite dessert from their hometown, creating a totally unique photo backdrop, branding the dinner rolls with a corporate logo, or using a live artist painting their party- the opportunities for personalization and customization are only limited by your creativity.
