President Report

President's Letter

Greetings everyone!!

I’m finding it hard to believe that the year is already in its fifth month! Business has been okay given the financial state of the state! We can only hope that the elections on the national level can bring us some sort of relief. But, only time can tell! Speaking of elections… Detroit NACE is beginning to prepare for its elections for 2009. If you have an interest in going after a board position for next year now is the time to gather your thoughts and prepare to run. The voted positions, by the membership in November, will be for the following board positions:

  • President
  • 1st Vice President
  • 2nd Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Membership Services (formerly Affiliate Representative)

(These elected positions will be for 2 years terms beginning January 2009)

In addition we have the following board positions that will be appointed for 1-year terms:

  • Programs/Logistics Chair
  • Awards Chair
  • Hospitality Chair
  • Fundraising Chair
  • Community Service Chair
  • Membership Retention Chair
  • New Member Chair
  • Communications

While I encourage and hope the current board will consider continuing to serve the membership as well as they have the board table is always available for new energy and continued growth! If you have a desire to run on the ballot for 2009 or would like to be considered for one of the appointed positions, please let Susan Keels, Kelly Brennan or myself know of your interest and we would be happy to provide you with additional information on the area of interest to you!

But, enough of the politics for now… It’s time to get ready to PARTY as NACE prepares to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our organization! Detroit NACE, under the direction of Laura Davis Events, will be joining chapters nation wide on June 3rd at The Reserve in Birmingham for a “Rockin” good time! If you have not registered for the event, take the time and plan to join us for a few hours of FUN! An event you won’t want to miss!

Take care,

Joseph Martinez, Detroit NACE President
