President Report

Happy New Year NACE members and those of you considering membership! Detroit NACE started the new year with a great turn out, fantastic food and beverage, and an outstanding program, featuring Dave Berger and internet marketing. Members left wanting to learn more about how the internet can be used as a tool to market their businesses. If you want to learn more check out www.A2.com … I’m certain lots of our members who attended went home and logged on to find out more. Your 2009/2010 NACE Board is filled with many new faces, all eager to make OUR organization the place to go to network, get inspiration, and learn. There has never been a time since I have been a member when it has been more important to be a part of Michigan’s largest catering and special event industry association. It is through NACE you can connect with your peers and grow your business. NACE is the place where relationships are forged in our industry and exciting new trends are launched! I made an error by not properly identifying a long standing member who showcased a great new product during this months meeting. I referred to him as Mark without naming his company. Mark Ephriam, of MPE Events, put together a gorgeous centerpiece supported by an elegant wrought iron pedestal which lifted the design to a level that didn’t block your guest view from across the table. The pedestal not only supports a significant floral arrangement but also has holders for about 10 votives. Watching people photograph the table with gorgeous linens reminded me how many of us gather ideas at some the catering conferences. Sorry Mark…I’ll be sure to not make that mistake again. If you have product or service that you’d like to showcase, please let me or any of the other board members know and we will be happy to feature your business at an upcoming meeting. February is going to be an exciting lunch meeting hosted by the Laurel Manor in Livonia. Please mark your calendar for February 18th and look for your invitation via email. We are working on the program which will have a wedding focus. We’re also working on some other surprises from within our own ranks that you’ll certainly not want to miss out on the continued education and NACE networking. NACE is exciting … be a part of the thrill! Todd Lloyd Chair Covers & Linens 2009 Greater Detroit NACE Chapter President
