President’s Report
Greater Detroit NACE is on vacation this month so there isn’t a July meeting, but your leaders have been hard at work planning the August meeting and we’ve begun work on our gala fall awards event: NACE, Clue, and You. Take special note of the emails between now and our awards dinner for special ‘clues’ to solve the Bridezilla mystery. It’s going to be FUN so mark your calendars!
I have noticed in conversations with many of you in the Hospitality Industry, there is a theme in the conversations about the challenges we face in our industry. You’ve shared with me the pricing and budget pressures you are facing as well as the pressure of learning how to do more work with less people. These are just a few of the many comments I hear when I ask “How are things going?” I believe these challenges have been put before us to inspire us to be better, to be more creative, and to gain an appreciation for what we have rather than focusing on what we lack. You see, it is our belief in this industry and our products and services that will carry us to more prosperous times. Attitude is everything. Many years ago a great author, Napolean Hill, wrote about the power of collective thought. He talked about how great people simply will things to happen. If you’re struggling, begin to think about what you want instead of focusing on the negative. Set your goals then break them down and make things happen!
Enjoy your summer and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in August.
