President Report

Untitled Document Wow! Can you believe the summer is nearly gone and fall is right around the corner?

This month NACE once again had an awesome meeting where we learned the inner workings regarding social media and internet marketing. Check out our meeting re-cap to see how you can contact our speakers to learn more. This is a hot topic and we may be doing more with it in the future. It?s exciting to have such a fantastic turnout in the middle of summer ? the vitality of the special events industry is strong...don?t let anyone tell you otherwise.
While I believe in the long term health of our industry, we are currently experiencing challenging times and it is often difficult to know what the future holds. The next few months present a business opportunity for us if we plan and take advantage of our current prosperity. The fall and early winter are generally a better financial time for most of us so make sure you plan now for the leaner months in the first quarter of next year. This type of planning is what insures our future success?or perhaps allows to have a future. This is also the time all us need to look to each other for encouragement and support. NACE is the perfect vehicle to make this happen. It is a place where we join together to share and learn from one another.

Next month, NACE is joining forces with the Michigan Meetings and Events Expo at the Inn at St. John?s. In short, this is a MUST ATTEND event! Everyone should plan to attend, on some level, the best educational opportunity our state has ever hosted. I?ll be sending out more details soon on how to register, and I?ll explain why you should attend.

If you are traveling or working during the holiday be safe and have fun!

Program Recap

Untitled Document

Over 70 members and guests gathered together on Wednesday, August 19, at lasala banquet center in Rochester, to expand their understanding of social media and its uses and impact for their businesses. The room buzzed with anticipation of the program as attendees enjoyed flavorful hors d?oeuvres and sipped on Twitter-tinis in the hour of networking leading up to the main event. For a $10 donation to the chapter, Mike from MG Photography offered the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken to enhance social media profiles.

The program did not disappoint. Moderator Bill Lonskey fielded questions to our expert guests Terry Bean of Networked Inc. and Kevin Outland of Pure Energy Advertising. In a faux talk show format. Both presenters energetically and sometimes playfully offered incredible insight and priceless tips and techniques. The program wrapped up with an audience Q&A period that was equally dynamic in the questions asked and the information shared.

The chapter thanks Affordable Elegance Chair Covers & Linens, Christopher & Company, Elite Event Rentals, Mike Staff Productions and lasala banquet center for contributing to the success of this event.

If you wish to contact our presenters, Terry Bean can be reached at (248) 224-1326 or via e-mail at tbean@networkedinc.com. Kevin Outland can be reached at (248) 844-0086 x101 or via e-mail at keo@getpureenergy.com.
